Faccenda Foods pumps £5M into despatch hub

Faccenda Foods pumps £5M into despatch hub

Faccenda Foods in investing £5M in a new despatch hub in Brackley to boost its storage and distribution capabilities.

The 2,787m2 facility is scheduled to be built over the next 12 months in the same business park as one of its major poultry processing plans, Faccenda Foods MD Andy Dawkins said.

The new hub would allow the firm to deliver improved levels of quality and service to its customers, Dawkins said. It would also create space to modernise and refurbish the Businesses Brackley factory, he added, allowing investment in advanced operational processes, better infrastructure and new facilities for staff.

In 2012 we made an £8M investment in the modernisation of our Brackley production facilities, said Dawkins. This further investment of £5M demonstrates our commitment to continue to develop and improve our poultry operations centred here in Brackley, Northamptonshire.

Operations Director, Philip Davidson said: Our focus with this development is to ensure our operations at Brackley are fit for the future, allowing us to take a major step forward in operational efficiency and employee working conditions, while reducing our environmental impact. This significant investment is good for our customers and great news for the local community.

The development of Brackley follows the construction of a new 9,290m2 portioning facility at Telford, Shropshire, which Faccenda Foods confirmed was on track to be fully operational in early 2015.

Once it begins operation, it is expected to boost Faccenda Foods capacity to process birds for portioning by 25% right away, enabling it to hand roughly 1.3M birds a week. The plant would be significantly more automated and increase the companys efficiency.

The new Telford facility is next to an existing factory, which would continue portioning birds as it had done previously.

Faccenda Foods supplies fresh and frozen poultry to retail, wholesale and foodservice customers, employs 3,000 people and currently boasts an turnover of £400M.
