Moy Park awarded £1.49m grant

Moy Park awarded £1.49m grant

Poultry processor Moy Park has been awarded a £1.49m grant by Invest NI to boost its own £5.95m investment in a two-year training programme aiming to develop competitiveness, profitability, innovation and performance in UK and international markets.

The Craigavon-based business is Northern Irelands largest food processor, employing 5,000 local staff. It operates 13 sites across Europe and earlier this month announced £20m is to be invested in its Grantham food processing site in Lincolnshire.

Invest NIs grant is part of a new Skills Growth Programme, offering financial support for training, focused on higher skills regarded as essential to development of the economy such as management, science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Moy Park is to invest the grant on improving its skills set accross the group to ensure all employees deliver a best in class performance.

Nigel Dunlop, Chief Executive of Moy Park said: Through this significant investment in training, we aim to improve competitiveness and profitability and deliver more innovation through high performing people and teamwork so that we can continue to grow in the UK and International markets. Our objective is to be the most effective, efficient and safe organisation of our kind in Europe through the skills and commitment of everyone in Moy Park.

NI Enterprise Minister, Arlene Foster said: This significant investment in training reflects Moy Parks understanding that a high skills level within the company is fundamental to sustainable growth and in particular to continued success in International markets.
