Tesco to sell high-welfare spoiltpig sausages

Tesco to sell high-welfare spoiltpig sausages

In addition to nationwide listings in Ocado and Morrisons, spoiltpig sausages have secured a place in 80 Tesco stores in the south west.

The brand is owned by Denhay Farms, and their sausages are made entirely from pigs that are outdoor reared and are approved by the Freedom Foods label.

Jim Loescher, managing director for Denhay Farms, said: “Being recognised by Tesco in the south west is a big move for the spoiltpig brand and, I believe, a reflection of increasing consumer demand for high-welfare, high-quality meat products. We saw our bacon start as a regional listing and build to a national one to satisfy these demands so we’re looking forward to a successful future with Tesco.”

The Freedom Food label adheres to strict RSPCA welfare codes and is the only UK farm assurance scheme that focuses completely on improving the welfare of farm animals reared for food.

Denhay Farms is a jointly owned family business that has been farming in Dorset for more than 60 years.

The sausages are available as both pork & herb and pork varieties and retail at £2.89 for six sausages.
