English Provender Company has a strong heritage as a manufacturer of condiments, chutneys, dressings, marinades, sweet and savoury sauces and preserves. With the recent acquisition of Suffolk Foods, the range has broadened further to include mayonnaise and mayonnaise-style dressings.
Its parent company is Edward Billington & Son Ltd. Founded in 1858 it is one of the UK’s largest private, family companies. With this comes long experience of sourcing and supplying high quality food products and the expertise of supplying to the exacting requirements of the multiple grocery retail and food manufacturing sectors - both in the UK and worldwide.

Quality and Service
The English Provender company’s production facility - occupying 93,000 square feet- is in Newbury, Berkshire. From here we deliver our products and promises. Commitment to quality is absolute. The products are prepared and manufactured in this state of the art facility, which embraces HACCP-based control principles to ensure quality assurance. The facility is also BRC (Higher) accredited.
Our Products
English Provender Company supplies the retail, foodservice and food manufacturing markets in the UK and beyond, offering a wide array of packaging formats from retail glass jars and bottles to buckets, bags & pallecons for the foodservice and food manufacturing sectors.
We offer retail products under the English Provender Company brand but also supply a large variety of retailer own label products, where our long-established relationships have given us all the tools required to excel. The foodservice and food manufacturing products are offered under English Provender Company, Suffolk Foods and Benedicta brands - or labelled to the customer’s specific requirements.

All of the English Provender Company products are made from time-honoured recipes using traditional open pan cooking methods. Many of our product categories have their own theme, from the super-time-saving Very Lazy ingredients to the tempting Heaven in a Jar Dessert Sauces. There should be something to suit all food-lovers within our huge range of mouth watering products.
All of our products are made using the finest ingredients, and do not contain any artificial flavours, colours or preservatives. We use open pan cooking methods to gently release the flavours and to ensure the creation of tastes that you would only expect to find in the finest deli.
 
Newbury
The new site opened in June 2004 and has 7 production lines and in the order of c800 SKU’s from raw materials through to packaging. There is a high degree of complexity with a broad range of premium products. The site has been designed to allow “flexible production” in order to satisfy the range, generate minimal waste and exceed customer requirements. The site produces c450 tonnes of product per week and this is set to expand. The business having a firm belief in continuous innovation and a “make it happen” attitude.
 
Customers include some of the largest food manufacturers in the UK and EPC enjoy strategic partnerships with Tesco, M&S, Asda, Sainsburys and Waitrose amongst others. The website demonstrates the range of products sold by these companies. The business is now turning over in excess of £30 million and significant growth is planned.
